Granted these riots were the result of police violence (something similarly important but something that just doesn’t hit the same nerve).
Yesterday the stock market dropped something like 10%. What matters? If I were completely unable to get a job in the next several years because a bunch of fuckers on wall street (some of whom I’ve met) found a good reason to make a buck,…..Who’s to say that flipping and burning public property is of no use?
I’m not necessarily vocal, but I’m feeling that my voice is being stifled more and more. If they make a conscious move to make a few bucks that ‘trickles down’ and prevents the triply-college-educated guy from being able to pay rent for the better part of a decade….why are we still honoring the same laws? Half of their Christmas bonus in a bad year is more than I’m making. I’m not saying we should equalize wealth, I just want the opportunity to work. If they fuck that up, shit will go down.
Wealth gap my ass. I’m tired of acting like this is only the rich man’s problem. Viva la revolution in whatever form it may take.
As the media coverage of the the UK’s rioting spreads, I’ve been bombarded with images of what can only remind me of Justice’s video for Stress, as my contact with real terror is more than limited.
And I see the riots, I see the pictures of trodden-upon, discriminated-against youths fighting…
